Webites for Parents

 

Below you will find websites that I recommend to my parents for educational practice at home. These websites are great for students between Kindergarten and 5th Grade. Not all sites may be appropriate for all grade levels.

Listen to stories read aloud by Actors through the Screen Actors Guild Foundation. There are

Popular Childrens books are read aloud by famous performers. Lesson plans included for each book with dicussion questions and other activities.

We Give Books is a website in which the books are not read aloud to the student but allows your child access to read book to themselves or for you to read it to them. This give you access to books that you may not have at home.

Starfall is a great website for young readers (pre-K through first grade). Students can learn the alphabet and learn phonics skills. There are also early reader books that are read to students as well.

Barnes and Noble has a section on their website called online storytime books. This is yet another site in which you can find popular childrens books read aloud. Listening to reading is great for young readers to hear someone reading fluently and will expression.

Abc Ya has reading and math games for all grade levels K through 5.

Fun Brain offers math games by topic or grade level. This site also has some reading games as well.

Math Blaster has math games arranged by grade level. There is registration required but the games are free.

Math playground offers a variety of number games. This website offers a specific section related to singapore math if your student uses this at school.

This site is organized by grade level as well as by skill. There are a lot of higher level thinking skills that are needed for some of the games on this site.
